Playing For Pride
This season has not gone how anyone in the FireWolves organization would have thought. A new city and country was hoping to bring a new era for this team, but that wasn’t the case this year. In their final game in front of their home fans, Oshawa is hoping to give their fans one more victory. Buffalo is a tough opponent any night, but Oshawa is looking for one more win before their season is over.
Tucker Out Lymphoma Night
Tonight’s game is bigger than lacrosse. Tucker Williams was a young lacrosse player who’s the younger brother of Dyson Williams and will honour the life he had. The Tucker Out Lymphoma games began when Tucker was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Burkitt’s Lymphoma when he was seven years old. His father Shawn played for the Buffalo Bandits at the time and they held a night to raise money for cancer research. Tucker sadly passed away on December 17, 2014 at the age of eight years old. Tonight, the Bandits and FireWolves will honour the life that Tucker had and how lacrosse was favourite sport. The teams will be playing for those who can’t anymore. Tucker will always be Braver Than Brave.
Big Buffalo
Buffalo’s season has completely turned around. They have gone from a 6-6 record to an 11-6 record and are currently on a seven game win streak with a chance to clinch the number one spot in the standings heading into the playoffs. Dhane Smith and Josh Byrne have led the way offensively while Matt Vinc has turned back the clock and posted over .850 SV% over the win streak and is looking for one more regular season victory.
FireWolves Players To Watch
Doug Jamieson will become the 20th goalie all time to have 50 career wins if he’s able to shut down the Bandits offence. Jamieson has a fairly good game last week vs Calgary in the loss, but wants to flip the script and defeat Buffalo. Alex Simmons reached a career high in points last week, surpassing 100 in a season for the first time. Sitting at 40 goals, he might try his best to hit 50, but it will be a tall order against one of the best goalies in the league.
Bandits Players To Watch
Steve Priolo has been physical and more present on defence for Buffalo. Look to the captian to lay the body for Buffalo.
Josh Byrne continues to score from all over on the floor. Byrne has surpassed the 100-point mark in a season for the third consecutive year.
Tune in tonight to what should be a special game to end the FireWolves inaugural season in Oshawa. Limited tickets are available and can be purchased here.
